What a great location! Roger’s place was peaceful and we loved getting to meet all the animals! Wish we could have stayed longer!

If you’re looking for a unique stay with personalized touches, this is it! Roger and Sabina are both so welcoming, kind, and open to sharing their life. My kids loved interacting with all of the sweet, friendly animals roaming around—especially Nala the dog and the baby pig. Roger always let us know when the pigs were downstairs and even let the kids feed the animals. He played guitar and sang on our last day, which was a total treat. We loved looking out the windows to see the horses on one side and the river on the other. The apartment itself was spacious, comfortable, and had just about everything one could need, including cooking oil, spices, dishes, etc. This place feels like a hidden gem!

This is a great weekend stay for families with kids who love animals. Roger and Sabina are warm and welcoming hosts. Our kids spent hours outside interacting with all of the animals and learning a lot about how to care for them.

The Riverview ranch and Resort is like none other! I really wasnât sure what to expect, but it far surpassed all our expectations! They go above and beyond, everything and more is there for you! Itâs a place you never want to leave and when you finally have to, youâre planning your next trip back! Roger and Sabina are the BEST!

Amazing time! Everyone is super friendly, especially the fur babies love being petted . We were welcomed with open arms. Everything you could think of was already provided in the apartment. Very comfortable & amazing view from each window in every room. Perfect!

Roger and Sabina’s place is as described- a great country getaway to experience a little bit of life on the farm. Our four year loved playing with the dogs and staying in the “barn” apartment. Her favorite part was the pony ride. A trio of stuffed animals were waiting for her on the twin bed, and a small bag of toys kept her occupied in the mornings and evenings before bed. The apartment had plenty of blankets, towels and everything we could need in the kitchen. Water was warm with great water pressure for showers in the morning. WiFi was easy to connect to and allowed us to plan our day and even stream a movie before bed. Roger was gracious enough to start a fire for us on our last night. He entertained us with stories and even spotted us marshmallows and roasting sticks. We enjoyed watching the sun set over the Mississippi and seeing many stars at night. Roger was easy to communicate with, and we had a smooth check in and check out process. Would recommend to o anyone wanting to experience a little bit of life on the farm while visiting the Galena area!

Lovely property with lots of animals and a laid back atmosphere. Great hiking nearby and a quick drive to Galena. Not fancy but everything we needed for meals and comfort was in the unit. Roger is so welcoming; we really enjoyed spending time with him and the horses hearing about their personalities.

My eight year old and I stayed for a weekend and he was in heaven. The dogs were sweethearts, the goats were very entertaining, and my son got over his fear of horses while we were there. Roger taught him a lot about animal safety, which I appreciated. It was a great place to let my son run around and just be a kid.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay with Roger, Sabina & all the animals! Beautiful views of the river from the unit, comfortable beds & awesome hosts. Would definitely stay again. Bonfires & guitar playing was a bonus!

Amazing stay with friends! Perfect for a get away!

Roger and Sabina are terrific hosts! They will make you feel right at home. Their horses and all of their animals are well cared for and loved. It is a great environment to be in :-) Roger and Sabina are easy to talk to and so welcoming. The area is very beautiful. It is convenient to get to downtown Galena but you feel like you are on an adventure staying at the ranch. Lovely!

Thank you to Roger and Sabina for being such gracious hosts. Despite the hot, hot weather, they were both so accommodating to whatever our needs were. My family loved spending time with the animals. The unit we stayed in was perfect for all 5 adults and 1 toddler. The kitchen had just about everything we needed to cook up a hearty breakfast. Towels and linens were clean. The dining room has large windows for you to see out to the horse arena -- fun view of the horses early in the morning. The only thing to note is to bring along some extra bottled water because the tap water has a slight metallic taste. We all thoroughly enjoyed our time at the ranch and hope to visit again in the future. Thank you again, Roger and Sabina!

What a slam dunk our weekend was at Roger and Sabine’s farm. We have small children who, at 2 and 5, are at impossible ages to travel with — and they couldn’t have been happier. Horseback riding, a bookshelf filled with toys and board games, “our vacation dog” (sweet Nala, who wandered into our unit from time to time to get loved on by the kids), air hockey table, chickens, and more running-around room than they knew what to do with. Roger and Sabine are charming and creative hosts who really have thought of everything. The views from this unit are — you have to see it. Wide open sky over the river on one side, straight into the big barn on the other. I had a view of horses, goats and chickens while standing at the kitchen sink. We made some great family memories at this Airbnb this weekend. Can’t recommend it highly enough.

Roger's place was awesome. We had a great time. Close to Chestnut mountain resort where we went skiing during our stay. Roger and and his wife were both very welcoming and went out of their way to make us feel at home. All of the animals were a bonus for us, and if you have young kids or are young at heart makes it very entertaining.

We had a great time at Roger and Sabina's ranch and we thank them for sharing their unique and charming home. It was such fun experience surrounded by living animals and warm hospitality throughout our stay. The location is beautiful and very close to chestnut,  they are especially attentive with children with special needs.  My nephew, Liam was enjoying a therapeutic horseback ride and entertained by Roger?s voice and music.  Highly recommended!

Not only we had an an amazing stay at the ranch with breathtakingview from our room and huge living space, we also had the best experience feeding and petting their beautiful animals, something that we can never find in just a regular vacation rental. Roger was a great host catering to the guests to provide a great experience. The farm is about 12 mins from downtown Galena and right by the ski area. We got to play with the three friendly dogs, the miniature pig, ducks, chickens, horses and goats. The dogs enjoyed hanging out with the guests so much that the come up the stairs and quietly ask to be let in. The miniature pig roams around looking for any food. The kids also enjoyed horseback riding on the farm. Overall a great experience.

There's something special being on Roger and Sabina's farm and I don't know how else to describe it apart from purely being surrounded by kindness: the kindness of your hosts, of the pet and farm animals, and of nature. My husband and I drove from Chicago and stayed here for a short weekend and saw so much. We biked on the Galena trail with two of their bikes, saw Chestnut mountain, did zip lining at Long Hollow, and of course walked around the town of Galena. One of my favorite memories here is seeing the horses and goats being herded by Roger and Nala the little Daschund back to their area during sunset. Grilling our second wedding anniversary under the stars was also something special. I think this is a lovely place for families and couples to visit. Very clean and comfortable room.

Roger and Sabina are so down to earth. My daughter's ages 16, 20 and 22 had a great time. They loved all the animals especially the dogs. All 7 of us fit comfortablyin the 3 bedroom apartment. I highly recommend staying here.

Roger and sabrina are great hosts! The horses and dogs are what set them apart from the other places. My kids loved bonding with dogs and learning about the horses. Pool and ping pong table kept my boys entertained. It’s not something you would get from a resort. The home vibe with a limited amount guests made it very special. In the evening, we did s’mores n looked at the stars with horses in the pasture.

Roger and Sabina were such lovely hosts. They made me and my family feel so comfortable as soon as we arrived. They were so patient and kind to our children (3 and 1 yo). Roger even played his guitar and sang for my daughter and let her play along with his mini guitar. Their animals are SO sweet and gentle and clearly are used to new people being around. Even Ferkelkin the pig let us pet her belly. Their home is only a short drive to downtown Galena so we were easily able to explore the area. If you have a child who loves unicorn, they offer a "unicorn ride" right on site. Our daughter absolutely loved it and it was the highlight of our weekend. Overall just a great weekend with super nice hosts. Such a perfect place to unplug from regular life.

Roger and Sabina's ranch is truly unique and a genuine experience. Roger and Sabina are fantastic hosts. We stayed at the ranch with our almost two-year old and they did everything they could to make our stay special. The animals were all fantastic with our son, and the space fit us perfectly. It's about a 15-minute drive to Main Street in Galena and easy to get to. But it's also far enough out that you can really enjoy the countryside. The description is on point and we'll definitely be back!

Wonderful place to relax. The kids loved all the animals, taking a bike ride, having a camp fire, and getting horse riding lesson. The place was as it was described and the owners were very nice and accommodating. Perfect for a small or larger family. Lots to do in the area. You will not be disappointed. House had everything you needed to cook meals. Note to self: your child may become attached to one or more of the animals and find it difficult to leave them:)

Roger and his wife was a great host. If you want to wake up to horses, watch a pig eat a watermelon laugh as a German Shepard herds ducks, sit by a campfire at night with a long hair dachshund at your feet this is the place to stay. Truly a place to get away from it all!

I booked the ranch for a one night getaway over my kids spring break. I thought the kids would enjoy the animals but wasn’t exactly sure what to expect. My kids absolutely fell in love with the horses, dogs, goats and pig. So much so that they are begging to go back and visit them in June. Roger and Sabina couldn’t be nicer. And Galena is a really cute town. We look forward to going back this summer and checking out more trails and maybe kayaking.

✨Amazing views- We thoroughly enjoyed the view from our apartment, as well as being able to watch the sun set while sitting around the fire. If you have kids you must ask Roger to tell you about Sir Thanks Slot and Harry the Hairy Ape. Our daughter loved it. ✨Our favorite part is what drew us to Roger & Sabina's place, the horses. They happily allowed us to mingle with and pet their 7 horses (after we signed the appropriate waiver). I especially loved taking my morning coffee out and visiting with all of the horses (Ayisha is particularly willing to come on up for a chat and a neck scratch

I cannot say enough about how fun of a stay we had! Our boys (8 and 10) loved waking up every morning and opening the dining room window to say good morning to the horses and getting to ride them one of the days we were there. The accommodations were fantastic as were the hosts. And there is SO much to do in the surrounding area. We were busy from sun up to sun down, which we had an amazing view of form the firepit. We will definitely be back!

Everything was really great, my friend and I went, along with my dog (with permission from hosts) and had a great stay. Roger and Sabina are so helpful and friendly. The apartment had a lot more everyday stuff than I expected, and so I definitely overpacked. They have a full kitchen with everything you need to cook and the bedrooms and living room are very cozy.

We had a wonderful time at Roger and Sabina’s ranch. They are so kind and were such great hosts. They went above and beyond and our daughters loved them! We enjoyed a bike ride with their bikes and took them on the beautiful road/trail the ranch is on. All three of our girls got to horseback ride for the first time which was an unforgettable experience! Roger and Sabina even built a fire and gave the girls marshmallows to roast and Roger told us some campfire stories. Their dogs are so sweet and so good with the kids. We have nothing but positive things to say about our time there. We hope to come back again soon!

For our family of four, this was a perfect getaway. The apartment is clean, spacious, very comfortable, well-stocked, and offers wonderful views, and the hosts are very kind and attentive to any needs. We enjoyed time petting the horses and playing with the adorable dogs. S’mores over an evening fire with a spectacular sunset were especially sweet, and ping pong and air hockey in the lobby were fun each day. One day we walked the .9 miles to the base of Chestnut Mountain, took the ski lift up, and enjoyed using all-day passes for the alpine slides. We’d brought a picnic lunch and loved the mountaintop views while enjoying it. We also enjoyed Hoof It goat treks, about 25 mins away. We drove through but didn’t spend much time in charming Galena due to social distancing, so we ordered carry out food and also used the well-stocked kitchen to cook in. Cannova’s Pizza, Galena Brewing Co, Culver’s, and Los Aztecas were all delish! It was a perfect location for outdoor activities and for relaxing in the comfy apartment. It felt like home. My 7yo and 11yo are already planning our next trip back!

My wife and I enjoyed a wonderful and restorative week of working vacation here. The apartment is comfortable and we slept very well on the memory foam mattress in the Admiral's Room. By day we setup our computers at a desk and table in separate rooms where we could both enjoy the cinematic views of the Mississippi River valley. Roger and Sabina are consummate hosts, and they anticipated our every need. Their horses and dogs are friendly and constant sources of entertainment. The location is stunning, and we enjoyed kayaking, biking, walking, grilling out, bonfires, and star-gazing, as well as a visit to Chestnut Mountain and several trips into Galena. We look forward to our next visit!
