We had a wonderful stay with Roger and his wife Sabine. Sabine took such good care of our whole family and truly made us feel at home. The kids loved being part of the farm life—they got to help with the animals, ride the beautiful horses, and enjoy every minute of the experience. If you want your children to connect with nature, experience authentic farm life, and play with lots of animals, this is absolutely the place to be. Highly recommended!

The ranch is in a beautiful location and has a ton of activities. The kids loved all the animals and got to go horseback riding. Roger was patient with the kids and introduced us to all of the animals at the ranch. We also took the canoes and kayaks out which was lovely.

Oh my, Roger's place was the most unique location and experience I've had renting an AirBnB!  He and his wife are extremely helpful, knowledgeable and friendly.  And the animals, oh my, the animals!  We had the joy of getting to know the horses, pigs, doggos, cat, ducks, chickens, goat and guinea pig.  And Roger woo'ed us with a song upon our return from The Edge, just up the hill.  About 10 miles from downtown Galena, with incredible west facing views for sunsets over the river.  Highly recommend and we promise we will be back!

Our recent stay at Riverview Ranch in Galena, IL, was nothing short of spectacular! Wrangler Roger and Sabina were phenomenal hosts, making every moment unforgettable. From the moment we arrived, Roger’s warmth and enthusiasm for his ranch shone through. The horseback riding was a highlight—his patience and care, especially with our kids, made it a safe and joyful experience. The animals, from the sweet horses to the playful goats and baby chicks, were clearly loved and well-cared-for, adding such a special touch to our visit.
We also loved the canoe trip Roger guided us on through the Mississippi backwaters. His knowledge of the area and genuine passion for nature made it an adventure we’ll never forget. The ranch itself is a perfect mix of cozy and adventurous, with stunning views and a peaceful vibe just minutes from downtown Galena. Our family left with huge smiles and plans to return soon. If you’re looking for a unique, heartwarming getaway, Riverview Ranch is the place to go!

I brought my 12 year old granddaughter to Riverview Ranch to spend time together and to be around horses, as riding is her passion. I wanted someplace affordable and within a day’s drive. From the moment we arrived, we knew we picked the right place! We were greeted by a beautiful and friendly menagerie of dogs, pigs,  goats, ducks, chickens, guinea pigs and of course, horses! Roger and Sabina allowed us to feed them all including a wheel barrel full of hay that we spread in a corral for the horses. Our hosts are very careful for the safety of their guests and their animals. Families can feel comfortable bringing children of every age to this place. It is both holsum and fun. You can turn off your devices and turn on to nature. I am so glad we choice the ranch over a spa weekend or less dusty experience ! Roger and Sabina are the most gracious of hosts, who let you see the work and devotion required to properly care of healthy animals. A great lesson for children and adults alike.

We appreciated the hospitality of Rodger and Sabina, taking the time to give us a tour of the farm, interact with the animals and the Root Beer tasting. They were always available to answer our questions. 
It was a beautiful, peaceful area, but close to area attractions. Just the get away we needed.

Roger's place was awesome. We had a great time. Close to Chestnut mountain resort where we went skiing during our stay. Roger and and his wife were both very welcoming and went out of their way to make us feel at home. All of the animals were a bonus for us, and if you have young kids or are young at heart makes it very entertaining.

Not only we had an an amazing stay at the ranch with breathtakingview from our room and huge living space, we also had the best experience feeding and petting their beautiful animals, something that we can never find in just a regular vacation rental. Great location and fun for the whole family! A short drive from Galena (less then 10 minutes away) you'll find the River View Ranch, and the view is phenomenal. Lots of fun activities for the family- from horseback riding to stories around the camp fire. Absolutely recommend this to anyone looking for a Galena getaway.

Very fun stay! So many things to do! Answered all our questions and was accommodating to our schedule. Enjoyed our stay!!

Amazing time! Everyone is super friendly, especially the fur babies love being petted . We were welcomed with open arms. Everything you could think of was already provided in the apartment. Very comfortable & amazing view from each window in every room. Perfect!

We took our 4 year old twins to Roger and Sabinaâs ranch and it was one of the best family experiences and weâve been to a lot of places. Absolute 10/10!

Where to start? First, the hosts are so kind and welcoming. Sabina told us all about the animals and was super sweet to my girls. Roger, the same. Very patient with them and started a bonfire for us, told stories at the campfire that I recorded and the girls made me play the recording multiple times because they thought it was so funny. They let our daughters ride the horses and it was not just a great place to stay it was truly âan experienceâ which is what makes places on airbnb stand out. 

My husband had a great time as well. Spotless apartment space and well thought out amenities. 

The location is right across from the Mississippi, amazing sunsets, close to galena and absolutely perfect in ever way! Weâll be talking about this trip for a long time

The Riverview ranch and Resort is like none other! I really wasnât sure what to expect, but it far surpassed all our expectations! They go above and beyond, everything and more is there for you! Unforgettable experience. Wrangler Roger and Sabina were very welcoming and knowledgeable hosts. The animals are very friendly. Our 7 and 2 year olds really loved playing with the dogs and pigs. Horseback ride was great.

Roger and Sabina are both so welcoming, kind, and open to sharing their life.  My kids loved interacting with all of the sweet, friendly animals roaming aroundâespecially Nala the dog and the baby pig.  Roger always let us know when the pigs were downstairs and even let the kids feed the animals.  He played guitar and sang on our last day, which was a total treat.  We loved looking out the windows to see the horses on one side and the river on the other.  

The apartment itself was spacious, comfortable, and had just about everything one could need, including cooking oil, spices, dishes, etc.

We had a great time at Roger and Sabina's ranch and we thank them for sharing their unique and charming home. It was such fun experience surrounded by living animals and warm hospitality throughout our stay. The location is beautiful and very close to chestnut,  they are especially attentive with children with special needs.  My nephew, Liam was enjoying a therapeutic horseback ride and entertained by Roger?s voice and music.  Highly recommended!

What a slam dunk our weekend was at Roger and Sabine’s farm. We have small children who, at 2 and 5, are at impossible ages to travel with — and they couldn’t have been happier. Horseback riding, a bookshelf filled with toys and board games, “our vacation dog” (sweet Nala, who wandered into our unit from time to time to get loved on by the kids), air hockey table, chickens, and more running-around room than they knew what to do with. Roger and Sabine are charming and creative hosts who really have thought of everything. The views from this unit are — you have to see it. Wide open sky over the river on one side, straight into the big barn on the other. I had a view of horses, goats and chickens while standing at the kitchen sink. We made some great family memories at this Airbnb this weekend. Can’t recommend it highly enough.

Roger and Sabina’s place is as described- a great country getaway to experience a little bit of life on the farm. Our four year loved playing with the dogs and staying in the “barn” apartment. Her favorite part was the pony ride. A trio of stuffed animals were waiting for her on the twin bed, and a small bag of toys kept her occupied in the mornings and evenings before bed. The apartment had plenty of blankets, towels and everything we could need in the kitchen. Water was warm with great water pressure for showers in the morning. WiFi was easy to connect to and allowed us to plan our day and even stream a movie before bed. Roger was gracious enough to start a fire for us on our last night. He entertained us with stories and even spotted us marshmallows and roasting sticks. We enjoyed watching the sun set over the Mississippi and seeing many stars at night. Roger was easy to communicate with, and we had a smooth check in and check out process. Would recommend to o anyone wanting to experience a little bit of life on the farm while visiting the Galena area!

Lovely property with lots of animals and a laid back atmosphere. Great hiking nearby and a quick drive to Galena. Not fancy but everything we needed for meals and comfort was in the unit. Roger is so welcoming; we really enjoyed spending time with him and the horses hearing about their personalities.

My eight year old and I stayed for a weekend and he was in heaven. The dogs were sweethearts, the goats were very entertaining, and my son got over his fear of horses while we were there. Roger taught him a lot about animal safety, which I appreciated. It was a great place to let my son run around and just be a kid.

I highly recommend staying with Roger and Sabina! I stayed with my two sons and all three of us enjoyed every moment. Roger is such an accommodating host, we couldn't decide which experience we liked the best- his spooky stories by the campfire, petting zoo, horseback riding experience, or just our conversations about life. This is the perfect place to stay while traveling to Galena!

We absolutely loved the ranch, Roger, Sabina, and all their animals. From the moment we arrived until our goodbyes our experience was magical. The children fell in love with the horses, the pig, three dogs, ducks, chickens, roaster, the guinea pigs, Miniature horse, and everything about this place. They keep asking when will we go back. And even our little guy said he wants to stay with the horses for a long long time. We have stayed at many Airbnbs in the past and I can say with utter confidence that Roger is by far the best host we have ever encountered. He was always available and made sure we were very well taken care of and that the children had plenty to do. The sunset was incredible! We will definitely be back and stay longer next time. We came to Galena for a weekend getaway for our 5th year wedding anniversary. The hosts Roger and Sabina also knew that and left a nice card for us in the room. We have a 2 year old which we did not bring, but after being here we kinda wished we planned a trip with our daughter cause she would have loved all the farm animals. I strongly suggest families with younger kids to consider this place cause its perfect for getting to know the various animals. We loved the little fat pig that never stopped wagging her tail, so funny. Even a fire at the end of the day to sit around.

Cannot say enough position thing's about this property or about the owners. Absolutely loved staying here. You are provided everything you need from coffee, seasoning, shampoo, soap etc. Your child WILL say they don't want to leave so be prepared. The owner's are friendly and carrying. Roger and Sabina's ranch is truly unique and a genuine experience. Roger and Sabina are fantastic hosts. We stayed at the ranch with our almost two-year old and they did everything they could to make our stay special. The animals were all fantastic with our son, and the space fit us perfectly. It's about a 15-minute drive to Main Street in Galena and easy to get to. But it's also far enough out that you can really enjoy the countryside. The description is on point and we'll definitely be back!

Thank you to Roger and Sabina for being such gracious hosts. Despite the hot, hot weather, they were both so accommodating to whatever our needs were. My family loved spending time with the animals. The unit we stayed in was perfect for all 5 adults and 1 toddler. The kitchen had just about everything we needed to cook up a hearty breakfast. Towels and linens were clean. The dining room has large windows for you to see out to the horse arena -- fun view of the horses early in the morning. The only thing to note is to bring along some extra bottled water because the tap water has a slight metallic taste. We all thoroughly enjoyed our time at the ranch and hope to visit again in the future. Thank you again, Roger and Sabina!

Wonderful place to relax. The kids loved all the animals, taking a bike ride, having a camp fire, and getting horse riding lesson. The place was as it was described and the owners were very nice and accommodating. Perfect for a small or larger family. Lots to do in the area. You will not be disappointed. House had everything you needed to cook meals. Note to self: your child may become attached to one or more of the animals and find it difficult to leave them:)

Roger and his wife was a great host. If you want to wake up to horses, watch a pig eat a watermelon laugh as a German Shepard herds ducks, sit by a campfire at night with a long hair dachshund at your feet this is the place to stay. Truly a place to get away from it all!

Roger was a great host catering to the guests to provide a great experience. The farm is about 12 mins from downtown Galena and right by the ski area. We got to play with the three friendly dogs, the miniature pig, ducks, chickens, horses and goats. The dogs enjoyed hanging out with the guests so much that the come up the stairs and quietly ask to be let in. The miniature pig roams around looking for any food. The kids also enjoyed horseback riding on the farm. Overall a great experience.
